While in Taiwan preparations for Halloween are in full swing, Australians at home and abroad are getting ready for the “race that stops the nation” - the world’s most prestigious and richest horse race – the 2014 Melbourne Cup. 40 horses will compete for over $6.2 million in Melbourne Cup prizes. Apart from the race itself, the Cup provides a chance for Australia’s fashion set to show off the latest in summer styles by top designers. Melbourne Cup events usually feature prizes for the Best Dressed Filly, Best Dressed Stallion and, of course, Best Hat!
