Founded in 1974 in Australia, ANCA is a world leading manufacturer of motion control systems, CNC (Computerised Numerical Control) grinding machines and sheet metal solutions. Roy tells his story …
‘These electronics could be better sourced and made in Taiwan’ - as a young engineer I noticed the opportunity immediately after joining ANCA in Melbourne. It was 1999 and I was a University of Melbourne PhD candidate hired by this amazing company building advanced machine tools, with technologies developed under one roof.
Being passionate about the technology, I continued to collaborate with ANCA during my first few years teaching at the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology. My career with ANCA took an interesting turn when the company moved volume production to Taiwan to stay competitive in the market.
Invited by Pat Boland, the founder of ANCA, I started an operation in 2005 developing electronics supply chains and manufacturing in Taiwan. Tapping into the local talent pool, we implemented automation to facilitate highly efficient testing and production. The one-stop-shop supply chain in Taiwan added value by providing more options and better cost control. We also developed robust software platforms suitable for control of machine tools in grinding applications.
Thanks to the trust and investment from ANCA over the years, we’ve grown into one of the largest Australian operations in Taiwan. I am so proud of being an Australian, a Taiwanese and part of the ANCA story.
