Australian A/g Representative in Taiwan Mr Lachlan Crews

 

Lachlan Crews is a senior career officer of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.  Most recently he served as Assistant Secretary, East Asia Economic Branch in East Asia Division.  His previous roles include Assistant Secretary, Trade and Investment Advocacy Branch, Regional Trade Agreements Division (2017-2019) and as part of the negotiating team working on the China, Japan and Korea FTAs (2008-2011).

Mr Crews was Minister-Counsellor (Economic) at the Australian Embassy in Beijing (2019-2021) and Counsellor (Economic) in Beijing (2013-2016).  He was also First Secretary (Economic) at the Australian Embassy in Seoul (2005-2008).  

Prior to joining DFAT, Lachlan worked in the international taxation and foreign investment areas of Treasury (1998-2001).   

Lachlan holds a degree in Economics and Arts (Chinese) from the University of Queensland, and a Masters Degree (International Relations) from ANU.
