Professor James Arvanitakis visited Taiwan

Education collaboration is one of our most important areas of focus. As part of our efforts to promote an exchange of ideas in the education sector, last week we welcomed one of Australia’s best teachers, Professor James Arvanitakis, to Taiwan.

Professor Arvanitakis is a professor in the Humanities at the University of Western Sydney, and Head of the leadership program The Academy. He has received a number of teaching awards, including the Prime Minister’s University Teacher of the Year Award in 2012 – Australia’s most prestigious teaching prize. A former banker, Professor Arvanitakis is also a human rights advocate, researcher, social commentator and frequent television guest.

During his short visit in Taiwan, he visited Tainan and Chunli to call on the University of Western Sydney’s sister universities, shared his ground-breaking methods in innovative teaching and critical thinking with students, education policy makers, and an education foundation that assists lower socio-economic background students in Taiwan.

Professor Arvanitakis has already received many invitations for his return to Taiwan in 2015. Professor Arvanitakis also talked about his recent trip on ABC Radio Sydney. Thank you so much, Professor James Arvanitakis for sharing with us all your passion in teaching. See you in 2015.
